Clarke had more than a few good points, and he wouldn't argue with her on most of them, but one stood out from the rest. She was always better at having a plan; he was the impatient one who never hesitated at a lack of a plan.
"Why does that someone always have to be you," he pleaded. "Let Kane stay."
Clarke squirmed under his grasp, and for an instant, his grip tightened around her arm, she pulled steadily against him, and released her with a frustrated sigh.
Lexa silenced them with her cryptic announcement of the ride to come. As Clarke sought answers, Bellamy watched the healer move into the cell, eyeing him with suspicion.
"Sit." The healed commanded. The stubborn Arker was only making matters worse by standing on his injured leg for all of the time.
Bellamy looked to Clarke for help. He didn't understand why he had to see a grounder healer when he was certain that she could easily see to his injuries. He'd seen her treat so much worse out of necessity; she was more than capable of handling a few cuts and bruises.
And yet, Bellamy did as he was told, letting his weight fall back against the stone wall, sliding down to the floor slightly harder than he'd intended. Perhaps he'd already felt Clarke's reproachful glare, perhaps he simply couldn't stand any longer. For whatever reason, he'd decided to cooperate, just this once.
The healer tore the rent in his jeans open wider so the could get a better look at the stab wound. After considering the nature of the injury a moment, he reached into a leather pouch at his waist and produced a small handful of herbs. He pressed these deep into the wound.
Bellamy grimaced in pain and let his head fall back against the stone.

Lexa stopped at the sound of Clarke's voice, half-turning to address her. "To Arkadia," she said, "Where you've been pestering me to take you this whole time." Had she forgotten? She must be quite distracted by her friend. Or...
She turned slowly, looking at her for a quiet moment, though her voice remained commanding. "Unless you've changed your mind?" It was almost too much to hope for. Lexa understood the emotions within Clarke; the Mountain had hurt her, but her stay had been trying. Even a wise and patient Heda could be tested. It wasn't so much giving up on her; it was giving up that she'd be forgiven. Maybe that was still beyond their reach.

Bellamy is the key to everything. If he dies, we die.
It did have to be her. Bellamy would understand. One day. Clarke tuned out the healer working with him, focusing her entire attention on Lexa's brilliant green eyes as the woman turned to address her. They were too easy to fall into, and the blonde grounded herself with a hand on the door. As much as she ached to see her friends and family again, she also didn't want to. It was deeper than that: Bellamy's arrival had made it clear that the information getting to Arkadia wasn't accurate. If she was going to protect her people, she had a better chance from here.
"I have," Clarke agreed. She still didn't trust Lexa, but the tangible reminder that she still had people alive and counting on her made the decision easy. "I can't unite our peoples," the former leader reminded. She held no power in Arkadia anymore. She was, for all intents and purposes, a deserter. "But I'll do everything I can to keep Arkadia safe," even if it means working with you, was left unspoken but the rare openness of her face conveyed the message.
"I'm staying," Clarke decided.

"Clarke, wait," he scrambled to his feet, roughly shoving the healer aside when they attempted to restrain him. As weak and exhausted as he was, he found just enough strength to resist. It helped that the healer didn't particularly care if the Sky person ever made it out of here.
Bellamy gained his feet and moved towards Clarke, but stopped short; a sharp clang ringing out once again as he was jerked back by the chain that tethered him to his prison. It was Bellamy's job to keep Arkadia safe too, and part of that mission was protecting Clarke, even if it meant he had to protect her from herself. They didn't need Lexa, or Polis, or the twelve clans; together they could do anything. Together they could survive. The ground have taught him that much.
"It's not safe for you here. You can't protect your people if--" He blinked as the room spun around him and his vision started to blur. He took a step to the side to widen his stance, struggling to find his balance, but in his haze, he'd forgotten about his injured leg. It couldn't take the extra weight, and he started sinking. Bellamy was already halfway to the ground before his brain caught up and realized that he was falling. His body crumpled and hit the ground hard. Then there was only blackness.
