Out of Character Rules
[1] Be Civil: That's self explanatory and it applies to members, visitors, and other sites. Remember we all represent our forum and we want to do it to the best of our abilities. If you have a problem with someone please take it to Private Messages, or just don't say anything at all.
[2] No Chatspeak: Chatspeak on any level outside common things like LOL, BRB, OMG is not allowed in either chat box.
[3] Follow Proboard Rules: If it's against their rules, it's against ours.
[4] Registration: Please register as the first name of the character you are applying for. For example someone wishing to role play as Jaha would register as Thelonious. Once you have registered go into your profile and change your display name to the character's first and last name. So, as Jaha, you would put Thelonious Jaha. If your character does not have a last name, then none is required to be put. So, Lexa, for example would simply be Lexa. If you do not post an application within 48 hours after you register your account will be deleted so that someone else may apply for the canon.
[4] Be Creative: We don't want a board full copies of canon characters,.Try as best you can to be original when creating your character, rather than trying to make them similar to pre-existing characters. We also request that your OCs not be related to canon characters. While tropes and cliches are an inevitable part of writing (no one is completely original) you can still be creative in their execution. There is also no excuse for plagarism. Using outside resources such as the 100 wiki is allowed, but copying their words verbatim is not. Also, don't steal from other players. It's not cool.
These character types are currently banned or restricted for application:
Arkers with siblings.
Mt. Weather survivors
Banished Grounders that do not display mutations - if you want to be banished, get kicked out in IC threads.
[5] Wait For Approval: During the application process, the admins will be working together to review and offer their verdict. When an application is marked as finished, the applicant can expect a private message from the admins within 48 hours. If the admins forsee it taking longer, they will inform you, or if 48 hours have passed you have the right to send an inquiry through private message.
[6] Accepted/Declined System: You only have one opportunity to submit your application for review. After we've been informed that your application is ready for review, the admin team will let you know one of three answers: accepted, accepted with modifications, and declined. If we do not find your character up to our standards (see be creative above) or find that you have not made the changes requested, we reserve the right to deny your character acceptance. It is in your best interest to make sure that it is really ready for review. We will also not look over any applications or pieces of applications outside of the review process. Characters once declined cannot be readmitted into the review process. If you would like to reapply your new character must be completely independent from the declined one. If we see you are attempting to apply with a character too similar or the same as the one previously denied it will automatically be declined.
[7] Character Limitation: You may apply for a second character only after your first character has amassed 10 posts. To apply for a third character you must have 35 posts at least on both accounts and prove to be active with the characters you already have. For each additional character after the third we require that the previous character accounts all have at least 50 posts, and that you are active and able to handle all of the characters you currently have.
[8] Activity: A character who is suspected of being inactive will have their activity timeline reviewed by the admins. We will be observing for patterns and gaps in posting and will decide if a label of inactivity is warranted. To avoid being labelled inactive, you should aim to post at least twice a month with your character. The admins will PM you if your character is considered inactive as a warning, and will wait to hear back to negotiate keeping the character within the week. For repeated instances of inactivity with the same character the admins reserve the right to remove the character without negotiation and will inform the player accordingly.
In Character Rules
[1] Rating: We are not an 18+ site, nor does proboards allow such content, so we ask that nothing is roleplayed or posted that would warrant an R rating. Specifically, no excessive swearing (exceeding three times a post), and no graphic descriptions of either violence or pornography. Sensitive topics such as rape or suicide should be treated carefully, with the utmost of discretion.
[2] Roleplay Decorum: Do not take control of another person's character; this is considered power-play. Avoid making statements of what a character is doing, or thinking, outside your own. Also, no matter how skilled your character may be in any given field, make sure not to godmode. Examples of godmoding include instantly winning in conflicts, healing illnesses outside the capabilities in the universe, instantly recovering from wounds, etc. Here is a handy infographic of common issues to avoid.
[3] Use Proper Grammar and Spelling: This is a written medium, and so basic writing skills are important. Minor spelling and grammar mistakes are fine, but they must not effect the legibility of your posts.
[4] Thread Titles: When creating a roleplay thread, please indicate whether it is open for anyone to join in the title. The original poster may close an open thread by changing the title if they've decided enough people have joined. A thread that is otherwise private does not require any specific labelling. It is also appreciated if the original poster indicates if a thread is finished in the title regardless of the type of thread.
[6] Post Length Minimum: A minimum of one paragraph, or five complete sentences, is required for an in-character post.
[7] Reference Established Characters: Due to allowing modified canon histories, we require that applicants reference accepted character's histories if they are tied into their own especially if the character being applied is deceased in the show (see below for a link). If making changes to canon in your history, PM any characters directly effected by it as well as the individual staff accounts. It is to ensure that everyone is on the same page. If there are any difficulties the admins will mediate. Elena and silv are the accounts, which can be found on the banner pages under staff.
[8] Character Death: A character cannot die without the player's permission, unless the character has been removed by the admins for one reason or another. If the player wishes to resurrect a canon character who is dead in the show, they should go to the canon list and see the information regarding that here.
[9] Ressurection: On "Welcome to the Ground", we offer the opportunity to have characters die in roleplay and be brought back in one of two ways.
The first, is by rare radioactive pools that are scattered across the world. Each pool, or 'Kikwada' can only be used once as the radioactive bacteria is absorbed by the host. Side effects include short manic violence and may result in insanity. On the plus side, all previous wounds and afflictions are healed as well.
The second is having been met by a City of Light messenger, and given the key. The conscience of the character joins the city as an AI, and is kept on the ingested microchip. It does not, however, heal the mortal wounds of the physical body. The microchip can be manually transplanted into another body. Some memory loss and visions of a lady in red have been reported.
In either case, it can only happen once to a character and requires permission from the admins via PM.
